The Rio 2016 Olympic Committee said on Thursday (15th January) that 7.5-million tickets will be available for the Games in Brazil in what organisers have called a 'fair and transparent ticketing process'.

"We believe we have a more accessible programme, because there are 7.5 million tickets, almost four million for a price under 70 reais ($26.5 US dollars). A fair programme with two lotteries, the second one that gives priority to those who have not obtained anything in the first one, and transparency."

"The foreigners will buy the ticket in their country, the Olympic Committee in the country has the exclusivity to sell the tickets and the committee can sell or can give it to an agency, and authorised re-sellers to sell the tickets in their country. The list of those re-sellers or the info about the committee and all the contacts to buy tickets will be on our website in March, before the sale starts, so everybody will have access and know who is the contact and how to buy tickets in their country."
