The Czech prevailed in straightforward fashion over Peng Shuai on Tuesday.
After powering through the first set 6-1, Kvitova's progress was momentarily halted by the rain.
Peng put up a decent fight in the second set, but Kvitova still forced a break of serve and sealed it 7-5 with an ace to proress to the third round.
