Federer and Hewitt launch Fast4

Tuesday, January 13 2015 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Roger Federer beat Lleyton Hewitt in the first major match of Fast4 Tennis - a new, shortened version of the sport - in Sydney, Australia.

    Script:

A new version of tennis and a new Hewitt, Leyton's son Cruz played Roger Federer to help launch Fast4. This would've been a pretty special first point to get things started.

Dad came out shortly after and notice the score, in the bottom corner. In this tennis sets are won by the first player to win four games while a first to five tie-breaker happens if they are level at 3-all, like here.

This has been billed by some as the tennis version of Twenty Twenty cricket, Australia's stand-in test captain Steve Smith was watching and seemed to approve.

Like in T20, the time between the action has been cut, players do not sit down between changing ends and play must resume within 60 seconds.

Play also continues when the ball clips the net cord on serve, there are no lets here.

There is no deuce either, if the players are level at 40 all then a power point decides the game.

The match is decided by the first player to win 5 sets, in this case like most of the time in normal tennis, it was Federer.
