This was the prize in Perth as Poland faced up against the USA for the Hopman Cup.

The United States went into the clash as hot favourites, with Serena Williams going up against Agnieszka Radwanska in the opening match, the American with an 8-0 career record over the world number five.

The pair produced some exciting tennis for the crowd present, but Williams struggled to find her feet as she lost the first set 6-4.

She came back to seal the second set following a hard fought tie break, but never looked in form and collapsed in the decisive set, Radwanska sealing the match 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 for her first ever win over Williams.

In the men's match-up, John Isner went up against Jerzy Janowicz, the two showcasing some powerful tennis in a hard fought first set.

The American sealing it after a lenghty tie break.

Isner made lighter work of the second set, a 7-6, 6-4 ensuring the match would go down to the wire in the decisive mixed doubles game.

The spectacular tennis was carried through to the showdown, as was Serena's lack of form, another unforced error by the American leading her to quite a show of frustration.

Janowicz closed the game out with one of his trademark serves as Poland triumphed in the Hopman Cup for the first time in their history.

A sweet victory for the nation that lost last year's final to France.
