Former Olympian Nancy Kerrigan has reason to celebrate.

Boston has been chosen as the US nominee to bid for the 2024 Olympics.

"So excited because I think Boston is a great city to host an Olympic Games."

The former American figure skater and her bid colleagues will now begin work on convincing the IOC to send the Summer Games to Massachusetts.

"When you have such an enormous event that is positive it brings in so much inspiration in so many different ways that I think you learn to deal - because to be around that atmosphere is electrifying."

Boston was chosen ahead of San Francisco, Los Angeles and Washington.
