Agnieszka Radwanska and Jerzy Janowicz beat Heather Watson and Andy Murray in straight sets in a Hopman Cup mixed doubles rubber as Poland won their Group B tie against Great Britain 2-1 on Wednesday.

    Script:

Agnieszka Radwanska and Heather Watson took to the court on Wednesday for the first rubber of the Hopman Cup tie between Poland and Great Britain.

With both nations having won their opening matches in Group B, the pressure was on the women to get their teams off to a good start.

After breaks were traded in the opening games Radwanska began to take control of proceedings and took the first set 6-3

Watson couldn't keep up with the World number 5, who dominated the rest of the match and put Poland 1-0 up with a straight sets 6-3, 6-1 win.

Andy Murray then had to beat Jerzy Janowicz in the men's singles to keep Great Britain's Hopman Cup tie with Poland alive.

Again breaks were traded in the opening games, but this time it was Great Britain that came out on top.

Murray won a comfortable first set 6-2, before taking the second 6-4 to level the tie at 1-1.

And so Great Britain's Hopman Cup tie with Poland would be decided by way of the mixed doubles rubber.

Radwanska and Janowicz clinched the upper hand in the seventh game of the opening set, breaking Watson's serve to lead 4-3.

The Polish pair went on to serve out the set, 6-4.

Radwanska and Janowicz once again edged ahead in the second set, taking a crucial break in the ninth game - overcoming Murray's serve - before completing a 6-4, 6-4 victory to win the tie 2-1.

Poland now top the Group B standings with two wins and can guarantee a place in the finals when they take on France on Friday.
