Ana Ivanovic survives tough first set to beat Jarmila Gajdosova at Brisbane International.

    Script:

Second seed Ana Ivanovic faced Australian wildcard Jarmila Gajdosova in the second round of the Brisbane International on Wednesday.

Gajdosova pushed her opponent all the way in the first set, putting her under sustained pressure in the ninth game as Ivanovic - the current world number seven - was forced to fend off three break points.

Having survived that test, Ivanovic broke her opponent in the next game to take the set 6-4.

She went on to survive a marathon 12 minute service game when trailing 1-0 at the start of the second set, before pushing on to take a straight sets 6-4, 6-1 win.

Ivanovic will now face Estonian Kaia Kanepi - the 2012 Brisbane International Champion - for a place in the final four.
