England coach Peter Moores said removing Alistair Cook as One Day International captain was a "brace decision" as the team flew out to Australia on Tuesday ahead of the Cricket World Cup.

"We'd got to a position where it felt like it was the right thing to do. It was a braver decision to change it. I'm comfortable with that and I think we've got the right people on the plane. We've got to go out there now and we've got to perform. We've got to perform well as a team. We've got to go there with a strong focus. We're going to try and win the World Cup."

"Eoin has been with us now since I've been coaching the one day side. He's captained part of the time when Alistair has not been available and he's been very involved in all of the decisions anyway because Alistair is close to Eoin and he's got a very good cricket brain. It'll be exciting to work with Eoin. He'll bring a lot to the team. Very straight forward captain which will be a good thing for us and a very strong desire to go out there and show how well he can play, but also how well we can play as a team."

"What I can say to everybody is we will go for it. My message to the players is first, it is a great place to play cricket, and second, let's go for it, let's go and play good, hard cricket and enjoy playing for your country.
