Hirscher on form in Zagreb slalom

    Austrian Marcel Hirscher won the FIS World Cup men's slalom event in Zagreb on Tuesday (6th January).

    Script:

    Going into the Zagreb slalom, Marcel Hirscher was the form man of the Alpine World Cup & the Austrian would star again.

    There were notable performances elsewhere.

    Sebastian-Foss Solevaag was 8th after the first run, but he temporarily moved top of the standings with his second run to give him a total of one minute 57 seconds.

    The Norweigan would finish 3rd as took a place on the podium for the first time this season.

    Solevaag was knocked off top spot by Felix Neureuther.

    The German was fourth fastest after the first run and he followed it with a time of 58.64 seconds, which proved good enough for second.

    Marcel Hirscher first run was 0.77 seconds faster than anyone else, to put him in pole position going into the second run.

    And It was Austrian who took the prize in Zagreb, Hirscher's total run time almost a full second better than the rest of the field.

    The result left Neureuther top of the slalom standings on 320 points, just four points ahead of Hirscher.

    In the overall men's World Cup standings Hirscher sits top with 676 points.
