Sloppy batting cost Windies - Ramdin

  • Intro:

Reaction after South Africa beat West Indies by eight wickets in third test on Tuesday (6th January) to seal a 2-0 series victory.

    Script:

Denesh Ramdin, West Indies captain (On game)
"Yes I think the way South Africa played, they really were consistent, and the manner that they went about the game, they were very professional. They didn't give us any loose balls when we were batting. It was very difficult at all times. When we got in, we should have carried on but most of the batters when they got in to aim to go on and get that big hundred. Fifties and sixties and then our collapse in the middle and lower order which always put us under pressure."

Denesh Ramdin, West Indies captain (On whether there were harsh words for Marlon Samuels for getting out cheaply)
"Not really harsh words, but all our senior batters, to play a shot like that when he was in, was an uncalled for shot. He was one of the guys that we were certain could have gone on and made a difference today for us. Himself and (Shivnarine) Chanderpaul, they had a very good partnership and always getting new guys to come up to the crease with Dale Steyn fired up at the other end. It's difficult for a new batter to come in a face those deliveries."

Denesh Ramdin, West Indies captain (On game)
I think that they are a quality team and that there are reasons why they're number one in the world and they came out and showed that. They batted well and Dean Elgar batted well for the team and for himself."
