  • Intro:

Europe's Ryder Cup winning captain Paul McGinley says Rory McIlroy can improve further and win more majors in 2015.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Paul McGinley, 2014 European Ryder Cup captain (Q: Is Rory McIlroy favourite going into the Masters?)
"He will be favourite, the bookies will make him favourite and I think the golf course really suits the kind of game that he plays. He's a great chipper of the ball, he's a great putter and hits the ball an absolute mile, which is very important around Augusta. So I think he certainly has the ability and requirements to win the Masters and I think during his career he will win, if not one, several Masters. Whether it'd be this year or not, we just don't know."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Paul McGinley, 2014 European Ryder Cup captain (Q: Can Rory McIlroy beat his 2014 achievements in 2015?)
"I think if you ever think that you can't play any better, that's not a good place to be. There is always room for improvement and Rory will know that better than anybody and he'll be going out very invigorated next year and very motivated, working hard on his fitness, working hard on his golf game, preparing himself as best as he can for the major championships and it'd be a brave man to bet against him not winning a major again next year."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Paul McGinley, 2014 European Ryder Cup captain (Q: Do you think Rory McIlroy can surpass Jack Nicklaus' 18 majors?)
"I don't know, it's such a huge record to try to chase down, but what I really like is Rory's attitude, to say 'I'm not chasing Jack Nicklaus' record, what I'm doing is going out and playing every week and playing as best as I can and preparing as best I can, I'm working hard, I'm trying to win Major championships and at the end of my career whatever number I win, I win. If it happens to beat Jack Nicklaus, great, if it doesn't it will still be a successful career'. I think that's a very good mature attitude to have."
