The second event of the annual Four Hills ski jumping tournament concluded in Germany on New Year's Day.

The Four Hills tournament is composed of four ski jumping World Cup events, having taken place since 1952.

Norwegian Anders Jacobsen scored the longest first round jump with 135.5 metres, much to the delight of his coach.

Heading into the event, Austria's Michael Hayboeck topped the overall World Cup standings by a single point over Norway's Anders Fannemel.

Hayboeck leaping 134 metres in the first round and then 138 for the second attempt.

Despite finishing in seventh, he held on to his overall lead with 549 points.

Peter Prevc came up short in the second round.

The Slovakian leapt 136.5 metres in the first and was half a metre shorter in the second round, yet that was good enough for third place.

    Simon Ammann came second.

The Austrian leapt 133 metres, five metres fewer than his first effort.

However, the two days belonged to Jacobsen.

The Norwegian went further with the second attempt, leaping 136.5 metres and ending with a winning total of 286 points.

The third event in the Four Hills tournament will be staged at Innsbruck in Austria over the weekend of 3 and 4 January.
