Southampton manager Ronald Koeman confirms left winger Dušan Tadić is set to return from a groin strain at Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Boxing Day. The Dutchman also confirms the signing of compatriot Eljero Elia on loan from German side Werder Bremen for the rest of the season; the 27-year-old will join on 3 January.

SOUNDBITE (English) Ronald Koeman, Southampton manager (on injuries):

"I'm happy that we will have players back after last weekend because Victor (Wanyama, midfielder) will come back, Morgan (Schneiderlin, midfielder) will come back -- and (Dusan) Tadic did normal training session today. That means, okay, more possibilities, more players -- and that's good for the programme what we have."

SOUNDBITE (English) Ronald Koeman, Southampton manager:

"I don't think to the second - the Chelsea game, no, because I don't believe in that. I can't do (plan) at one time two games, I need to prepare myself the team, the players, to prepare them for the Friday game. And I will put (out) the most strongest team but all about the physical states of players. And, okay, maybe I can't start with the same 11 Friday and Sunday -- maybe, but then we will see on Saturday what happens."

SOUNDBITE (English) Ronald Koeman, Southampton manager (on Dutch winger Eljero Elia of Werder Bremen who Koeman is keen to sign, initially on loan):

"We need at least one player in (up) front because we will lose Sadio Mane in January, he will play the Africa Cup -- and we need one player in that position. And it's a good option. We had... he was a Dutch international and he had not so good period in Germany, but I believe in the qualities of the player."
