Besiktas return to the top of the Turkish Super Lig after a 3-1 win against Akhisar Belediyespor. Galatasaray and Fenerbahce were also victorious to keep the three-way title race alive.

    Script:

With Turkish Super League leaders Galatasaray winning the day before only three points would do for Besiktas against Akhisar Belediyespor on Sunday.

Cenk Tosun sent Slaven Bilic's side on their way before Jose Sosa's free-kick caught everybody by surprise, including keeper Oguz Daglaroglu, to make it 2-0.

Bilal Kisa pulled one back for the visitors but Gokhan Tore came off the bench to seal a 3-1 win.

That result meant Istanbul rivals Galatasaray returned to second place, despite edging a five-goal thriller against Mersin Idmanyurdu.

With the score at one a piece Gala's Aurelin Chedjou tripped Marko Futacs and Milan Mitrovic restored Mersin's lead.

The hosts' top scorer Burak Yilmaz equalised with a penalty of his own before the Turkey striker had a hand in Umut Bullut's 79th-minute winner to snatch a 3-2 victory.

On Friday Fenerbahce stayed two points off top spot in third with captain Emre scoring the only goal of the game at Kayseri Erciyesspor.
