Freiburg hold Hannover in Germany

  • Intro:

The German Bundesliga's bottom club Freiburg throw away a two goal lead but still secure a surprising 2-2 draw with mid-table Hannover 96.

    Script:

Hannover made the long trip down to Freiburg for the final German Bundesliga game before the five-week winter break on Sunday.

The hosts were buoyed by the return of attacking trio Mike Frantz, Vladimir Darida and Jonathan Schmid but Hannover dominated the opening 45 minutes until, against the run of play, Frantz struck on the stroke of half time.

In the 81st minute Schmid's corner picked out centre-back Marc-Oliver Kempf who seemed to seal three points for Freiburg.

But Tayfun Korkut’s side had other ideas. Lars Stindl profited from a lucky deflection and squared the ball superbly for Leonardo Bittencourt who reduced the arrears just two minutes later.

Then in the 93rd-minute substitute Marc Torrejon mis-read Miiko Albornoz's long ball horribly and Joselu capitalised on a Roman Bürki error to rescue a point for ex-Turkey international Korkut's men. Turkish delight.
