"I'm very pleased with the way he's performing in the number ten role. And then you look at the more mature he gets, he'll be able to play in other positions. I was delighted to see him performing in a mature manner and his partnership with Mo (Muhamed) Besic and the way he controlled the game (versus QPR). Not just the goal and the way he started all our attacking play, I thought he measured his positioning, the tactical awareness he showed for a young man was very impressive."

"Yes, I think that deeper role brings more of an understanding of what's around you. It's not the same play in the first five minutes and the last five minutes in the game. I think that's a position where you need to take many things into consideration. You need good experience, you need a good footballing brain and that's why I think he really enjoyed that role because it tests you and you're thinking all the time. It's very important that young players think while they are on the pitch. Clearly Ross Barkley is benefiting from that and I do see Ross Barkley being able to master those two roles."
