Thailand put one hand on Suzuki Cup

  • Intro:

Thailand beat Malaysia 2-0 in the Suzuki Cup final first leg in Bangkok.

    Script:

2010 winners Malaysia travelled to three-time champions Thailand for the first leg of the Suzuki Cup final. They were met with an intense atmosphere in Bangkok which seemed to stifle the game in the first half but after the break the home side stepped up their search for an opener.

That came with just under 20 minutes to go, Adisak Kraisorn went down in the box and the referee pointed to the spot.

Mohamad Fadhli protested his innocence and this angle may well make you do wonder how much contact there actually was.

Charyl Chappuis stepped up and put away the penalty to give Thailand a crucial lead with his third goal of the tournament.

They enjoyed that and they really enjoyed this with four minutes left to play, Chanathip Songkrasin burst into the penalty area and set up Kroekrit Thawikan.

His goals were vital in the semi-final win against the Phillipines and this one means Thailand take a two goal lead to Kuala Lumpur, they'll be confident now, they'll be confident now that they'll be celebrating at their rival's home on Saturday.
