Clermont Auvergne were looking to consolidate their position at the top of European Champions Cup Pool when they hosted Munster on Sunday.

The Irish side made a strong start with two penalties from Ian Keatley giving them an early 6-0 lead.

However the hosts hit back with a classy opening try in the 18th minute with captain Damien Chouly stretching over the line to touch down.

Clermont extended their lead in the final minute of the first half when Munster failed to close down winger Noa Nakaitaci whose superb solo run gave them their second try and a 15-6 lead.

A second try from Chouly seven minutes from time left the hosts very confident of victory.

A late interception try from Duncan Casey gave Munster fans something to cheer about and when Keatley was successful with a further penalty - the Irish side managed to snatch a crucial losing bonus point with their 26-19 defeat.

Clermont now top the pool while munster trail them by four points with two group games remaining.
