The seventh World Cup competition of the 2014-15 season took place at Nizhny Tagil in Russia.
Points-leader Roman Koudelka skipped the event - a move that could prove costly for the Czech, although his closest rival Simon Ammann was also absent.
Third-placed in the standings at the start of the day, Anders Fannemel trailed Koudelka by 40 points.
The Norwegian had a clear lead at the interval thanks to an opening leap of 132.0-metres for a return of 127.4 points.
Germany's Severin Freund occupied second spot with 124.8 with Gregor Schlierenzauer just 0.1 back in third.
As always, the best went last in round two.
That allowed Schlierenzauer to slip into the lead, thanks to a massive 133.0-metre leap.
It proved too much for Freund. He managed 127.0-metres
That meant only Fannemel was left with the chance to best the Austrian's time.
He equalled Schlierenzauer's 133.0-metres and clinched the victory with 263.1 points.
Furthermore, the 23-year-old soars to the top of the FIS points table with 350. Peter Prevc of Slovenia goes second with 294 - Koudelka drops down to third.
