Toulon beat Leicester 23-8 to take control of Rugby Champions Cup Pool 3 on Saturday (13 December).

    Script:

Toulon enacted their revenge against Leicester in style, as they beat the Tigers 23-8 at home in the Rugby Champions Cup on Sunday.

The French side started off strong. A penalty from Leigh Halfpenny put them up just 5 minutes in.

Ali Williams made his mark too by firing in from close range, scoring the opening try 5 minutes later.

The suffering Leicester were trailing 16-0 by the time they managed to attempt their counterattack in the 27th minute. Blaine Scully converted an impressive team effort by sneaking in his try from the corner.

But their efforts were in vain as Toulon went full steam ahead in the second half. Nicholas Sanchez was initially brought down just short of the line, but Matheieu Bastareaud's reflexes put him in the position to quickly collect the ball and finish it off.

The emphatic win resulted in Toulon leading Pool 3 with five points clear of Leicester, and being strong favourites to progress into the quarter finals.
