Sebastien Buemi claimed his maiden Formula E victory in Uruguay on Saturday (13th December), taking the chequered flag at the third round of the 2014/15 season - the Punta del Este ePrix.

Sebastien Buemi took his first Formula E victory on Saturday, after winning the Punta del Este ePrix event in Uruguay.

There was a game of cat and mouse for the position at the front in the beginning, with newbie Jean-Eric Vergne and Nelson Piquet Jr overtaking each other twice in the course of the race. Vergne eventually emerged victorious after Piquet Jr. hit a crash barrier which weakened the handling on his car.

Further collisions were reported that day. Stephane Sarrazin and Matthew Brabham both crashed out of the race, and the safety car was needed for both occasions.

Meanwhile Sebastien Buemi managed to overtake Vergne after the Frenchman pitted before the first safety car came. He then failed to reclaim his position as the suspensions on his car were fastly deteriorating.

This left Buemi to sail to victory, with Piquet Jr and di Grassi at 2nd and 3rd.
