Four players were tied for the lead after the first round of the Thailand Golf Championship in Chonburi on Thursday.

Windy conditions took their toll on scoring as the Thailand Golf Championship teed off on Thursday at Amata Springs Country Club.

Sergio Garcia is one of several top players in the field in Thailand and he opened with a one-under 71. He finished with a par after this approach at the ninth.

Bubba Watson had a tough time on the greens on Thursday - this birdie on ten one of only two on the day as the two-time Masters champion posted a four-over 76.

Lee Westwood made this putt to finish with a birdie on eighteen. He sits one shot behind the leaders after a two-under par 70.

Local Kiradech Aphibarnrat had a miserable day, shooting 76, however he did make this unbelievable double breaker for eagle at the eleventh.

Eleven was also lucky for home player Thongchai Jaidee, who chipped in from the rough for eagle in a level par round of 72.

Along with Westwood, Australia's Scott Hend opened with a 70 and is one shot back of the leaders at two-under par.

Out in front though are four golfers. Canada's Richard Lee began with a 69 to take a share of the lead at three-under.

Thailand's Thanyakon Khrongpha also shot an opening 69 to join Lee at the top of the standings at three-under. This was his third shot at the par four 18th.

Also managing a 69 was Marcus Fraser.

The Australian finished in style with a chip in for birdie to claim a share of the first round lead with Lee, Khrongpha and late charger Lu Wei-chih of Taiwan at three under par.
