    Carolina Panthers Director of Communications, Charlie Dayton, confirmed that quarterback Cam Newton suffered two fractures to his lower back in a two-car crash near the team's stadium in Charlotte on Tuesday.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Charlie Dayton, Carolina Panthers Director of Communications:
    "Cam's (Newton) in fair condition and will remain in the Carolinas Medical Center throughout overnight for observation. Further tests this afternoon revealed that Cam (Newton) does have two transverse process fractures in his lower back but no other internal injuries. And that's where we are right now at which, and he'll stay in overnight but there are no more tests scheduled and that's it."
