South Africa have won the Dubai Sevens for the first time since 2008, following a convincing 33-7 win over Australia on Saturday.
Kwagga Smith scored the opening try for the Springboks, while Australia's Pama Fou was in the sin-bin for a tip tackle.
But Fou, fortunate to be only yellow-carded, made amends when he returned to the field to tie the score at the break.
The Springboks took control of the match in the second half.
A quick-fire double from Seabelo Senatla sealed the win.
South Africa are now two points adrift of World Series leaders Fiji, who finished third in the tournament after beating New Zealand.
