SOUNDBITE (English) Denesh Ramdin, West Indies cricket captain:

"We have not been playing consistent cricket as we would like to play, but in this tour we will let that motivate us and try and go one step further from the last series that we had here. We won the first one. We really need to play some good cricket here, it is going to be tough. mentally. I believe we have some young players and senior players who can guide the younger ones to do that."

SOUNDBITE (English) Richie Richardson, interim coach of the West Indies cricket team:

"In recent weeks we haven't had any discussions in regard to that which is a good thing. Which means we are not focusing on what has happened, we're focusing on the future which is here in South Africa and we are here to play Test cricket initially. And that is our focus our focus for all the players, pretty much ready for the challenges we are going to face. It is not going to be easy against South Africa as the captain said, at home..."

SOUNDBITE (English) Denesh Ramdin, West Indies cricket captain:

"Any team which loses Chris Gayle is a blow for them, but having said that young Devon Smith who is replacing him, played here the last time, he got some runs and he is very excited, got a lot of runs in the first class season back home. So hopefully once he gets the opportunity we're going to support him and he will do well for the team."
