The weekend's action at the Australian Open begun with local man Greg Chalmers holding a one shot lead over Rory Mcllroy.

Another Australian, David Bransdon, shot an even par 71 on Saturday, but he was made to wait for his birdie here at five as his putt sat on the cup for a full eleven seconds before finally dropping.

Adam Scott was one of those who moved up the leaderboard. Scott, runner-up last year, carded a 69 to move one off the lead at four-under.

World No 1 and defending champion Rory McIlroy was in the thick of it, in his third round. Mcllroy was in a share for the lead at four-under-par heading down the ninth.

Before he buried his ball in even more trouble. Mcllroy would take a triple bogey seven & drop two further shots to finish with a 76, leaving him six off the lead after Round 3.

Local favourite, Rod Pampling hit this majestic long iron on ten for eagle, the Australian taking a share of the lead at five-under-par.

Pampling ended the day at four-under-par after a 69 to leave him one shot back of the leaders.

One of those leaders is Brett Rumford, who is at five-under-par after a third round of 69.

Jordan Spieth joins Rumford at the top at five-under after this birdie on eighteen gave him a two-under 69.

That lead is shared with Aussie Greg Chalmers after his level par 71 maintains his stay at the top of the leaderboard.
