  • Intro:

Australians remembered the late cricket batsman Phillip Hughes on Friday with tributes.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Pat Howard, Cricket Australia Performance Manager:

"I think, in regards to anything that we do do, we need to make sure the players are in a position where they can make strong choices. That's not now, that's not this time. Any choices, you know, (will be made with) the Hughes family, where they are, involving them and that's obviously not now either."

SOUNDBITE: (English) James Sutherland, Cricket Australia Chief Executive:

"I can remember just in the last few hours, conversations with Phillip's father, telling me just how much he and the family love cricket, and Phillip loved cricket more than anyone and he would want nothing more than for the game to continue, but as I said before, the game will continue at Test level when we're ready."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Anthony Miles, Hughes family friend:

"Still coming to terms with it today, us family friends got together and kept close. Barbecues, as you do, always been a barbecue. Yeah, we just cry, but then again, laugh. We like to take it out on our friends and give them a little bit of stick and it's not going to give up on Phil as well."
