SOUNDBITE: (English) Angelo Mathews, Sri Lanka captain:

"First of all we were deeply shocked and saddened about this whole incident. It was totally surprising you know. Unexpected. Phil Hughes is a very humble guy, a thorough gentlemen and he is a fighter when it comes to cricket. I think the loss of him will definitely... it's a big loss for cricket. Look, it was an unfortunate incident and we never expect something like this to happen when you bowl a bouncer. Even when they are aggressive you don't expect them to get hurt you know, it is just a game of cricket and it was just unfortunate incident. So, I think there won't be any thoughts regarding those bouncers but I think it was just an unfortunate incident and our thoughts and prayers to his family and loved ones and his team mates and the Australian cricketing fans and the fans across the world."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Angelo Mathews, Sri Lanka captain:

"Well, I think yeah it will be very hard to get over because especially to all of us, not only the Australian cricketers... he is a mate and has been a wonderful guy, a humble guy and a gentleman. I think only time will tell because it is not easy to get over things like this and I know that obviously you have got to move on but it will take a lot of time to recover."
