SOUNDBITE: (English) Roberto Martinez, Everton manager:

    (On James McCarthy's injury)

"Well it is a serious problem because it is a problem that he's had before and we need to make sure that we find the route of the problem. But it's a soft tissue problem, it happened at around 10, 15 minutes into the game (against Wolfsburg), which is not down to fatigue, but it is more the accumulation of games and we were quite aware of the risk of that happening after the amount of games that he had and the reaction that the hamstring had over the last few months. So we're going to assess him and make a decision over the weekend."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Roberto Martinez, Everton manager:

    (On dealing with McCarthy's workload)

"His body is getting used to the demands of playing European football and international football and the domestic competition, so we need to make sure that we find the right balance and that could go as far as nutrition, making sure that the balance between resting and playing the games is right and we're going to help him in that respect. But it's one of those injuries that it comes for the right reasons, just because you're on the pitch and he's full-hearted, he's a sprinter and obviously the soft tissues, they are always at risk with the way that he is whole-hearted and he gives everything in every performance."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Roberto Martinez, Everton manager:

    (On Tottenham)

"I really admire this Spurs side, I think they've got a real talented squad, they are a team that are fighting to get into the Champions League positions and I do think that they are going to be a really dangerous side as the new manager and the new players are getting used to the way they want to play and they are going to become a real force in the second half of the season. I'm convinced of that."
