SOUNDBITE (English) Basit Ali, former Pakistan Test cricketer:

"I think it is a sad day for cricket, and everyone knows he (Phillip Hughes ) was a good batsman, he scored lots of runs in Australia and especially in international cricket, and the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) and New Zealand cricket board decide today the Test match abandon for the one day. This is a nice thing, we are just like a family you know."

SOUNDBITE (English) Sikandar Bakht, former Pakistan Test cricketer and pundit:

"He died doing something which he loved, that is playing cricket, so my condolences to the family once again and also to the bowler Abbott (New South Wales fast bowler Sean Abbott, who bowled the ball which hit Hughes), because I am sure he must be feeling frustrated, depressed, and I don't whatever."
