SOUNDBITE (English) Roberto Martinez, Everton manager:

"With one game to go to be top of the group is a real feeling of satisfaction. It's not just the way we played or the way we performed. It's being able to have that mentality of being able to cope with this sort of opponent is very pleasing.
"We knew that Wolfsburg are a team that they want to be on the ball and we had to defend really, really well. I think the difference probably was that when we defended, we defended with numbers, and we were patient with that. And we were ready to use the counter attack to good effect. The transition of the game, we were lethal. Every time we broke we look really threatening. We got real good situations and that probably allowed us to score two goals and we scored another one that was disallowed and probably an open chance for Aiden McGeady. It shows you that the pattern was to defend really, really well with good focus and good intensity. I thought the two centre halves and Tim Howard were outstanding but I think the shape of the team helped those three to be at their best and we always carried a real threat going forward. So probably that's the difference - we used the counter attack to very, very good effect today."
