    Script:

It's the one major trophy that's eluded Roger Federer, now he can finally engrave his name on its historic plaque.

The Swiss master has sealed his country's first Davis Cup triumph with a straight sets win over Frenchman Richard Gasquet.

In the best of five final, Switzerland now have an unassailable 3-1 lead.

Gasquet was no match for Federer in the reverse singles tie.

He fought strongly against the 17-time grand slam winner who showed no sign of the back problem that forced him to withdraw from the ATP World Tour Final.

Federer was focused and lead from the outset.

The tennis great wasn't phased by the occasion or the lengthy exchange between French team captain Arnaud Clement and the match umpire.

He held his nerve to close out the game in emphatic fashion to deliver Switzerland its first Davis Cup and add that final major trophy to his incredible career.
