    New Zealand teenager Lydia Ko won the USD$1 million bonus from the "Race to CME Globe" then added USD$500,000 when she defeated Carlota Ciganda of Spain on the fourth extra hole to win the CME Group Tour Championship on Sunday (23rd November) in Florida.

    At 17, Lydia Ko is an instant millionaire.

    With the biggest payoff in women's golf on offer, the New Zealander not only took home $1,000,000 for claiming the Race to CME Globe, but another $500,000 for winning the Tour Championship,

    At the end of 18 holes in Florida, Ko was tied for the lead at 10 under.

    In doing so she clinched the million dollars and the Race to CME Globe.

    Ko needed to overcome Julieta Grenada and Carlota Ciganda in a playoff however to claim the Group Tour Championship and the other $500,000.

    Grenada was eliminated after she failed to make par on the 2nd hole, but Ko and Ciganda couldn't be separated even at the third extra hole.

    On the fourth, Ko finally took victory.

    It completes a stellar year for the 17-year-old.

    It's her third win and follows her rookie of the year award.
