It hasn't quite the longevity yet of the Lewis Hamilton, Nico Roseberg rivalry, however Formula E is developing its own running battle.

Offsprings of two famous drivers, Nicolas Prost and Nick Heidfeld, were in action here in Malaysia.

Yet a repeat of their Beijing fall out was cut short here.

Heidfeld crashing out in the 8th lap just as he had done in Beijing last month.

While his rival Prost started the grid on pole, the Frenchman dropped quickly down the standings early on.

Nelson Piquet Jr was eliminated in the 22nd lap after a collision with Jarno Trulli and in the penultimate lap, Bruno Senna also crashed as he chased a podium finish.

Round 2 of the season in Putrajaya was won by Englishman Sam Bird.

After overtaking Oriol Servia - who had started in pole position, in the fifth lap, the Virgin Racing driver never looked back and was never really threatened by the chasing pack.

Lucas di Grassi finished in second with Sebastien Buemi completing the top three.

Round 3 takes place in Punta Del Este, Uruguay in December.
