    Chris Froome is amongst the riders who take part in the second year of the Nelson Mandela memorial ride. The event is designed to unite South Africa through sport (November 22nd).

    Script:

    Young and old, professional and amateur, gathered at dawn in Pretoria to run, walk and cycle to honour the late Nelson Mandela.

    The Nelson Mandela sports and culture day is designed to bring together South African from all walks of life. This year is its second year and is celebrating twenty years of democracy in the former apartheid state.

    The 67km event was won by Reinhardt Janse van Rensburg in the male category, while female Dutch cyclist Marianne Vos also took part in the race, finishing second to South Africa's Ashleigh Moolman Pasio.

    With 2013 Tour de France winner, Chris Froome, proud just to take part in such an event...

    "It's a great feeling, today is a special day. I think we can all come together today and ride for a good cause and remember the man himself who recommended that sports is a great way to unite people and obviously for youngsters, promote a good lifestyle for a youngsters."
