Goa up to 4th after win over Pune

  • Intro:

FC Goa are up to fourth place in the Indian Super League thanks to Saturday's 2-0 victory over visiting Pune City.

    Script:

A noisy crowd of 18,500 in the Jawa-har-lal Nehru Stadium on Saturday didn't have to wait long for the first meaningful action.

Andre Santos' fine free-kick was glanced in by Romeo Fernandes in just the sixth minute.

Another Goa free-kick, and this time Santos went for goal himself, denied only by a fine save from visiting goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya.

Pune were largely ineffective in front of goal, though they were hugely unlucky after the interval when Kostas Katsouranis and Bruno Cirillo were denied by
    the woodwork in quick succession.

It took until injury time for Goa to make the points safe, via the head of Miroslav Slepicka.

2-0 the final score - joy for Zico with a third win of the season.

Goa improve to fourth with 12 points from ten games - the same haul as Mumbai City in fifth and Pune in sixth.
