  • Intro:

Reaction from managers and players after England stretch their winning run to six games with a 3-1 victory over Scotland at Celtic Park on Tuesday.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Gordon Strachan, Scotland manager (on the game)

"Well when we met ten days ago, the point of the exercise was to get three points against the Republic (or Ireland) which we did and I'm proud of the way we went about it. Then you look at the game tonight and analyse it because you want to win it. First of all England, I thought the intensity that they played at and the strength they played at and the pace they played at, without the ball especially, was fantastic which kind of spooked our players I think. I think they must have watched our game and thought right, ok, we'll go for them. and that's what they did and I think that spooked our players a bit. I think that they were expecting an England team to come back and sit and wait, but they didn't do that. And it's a team full of Champions League players and they showed that tonight."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Gordon Strachan Scotland manager (on what Scotland can learn from the game, despite the result)

"We know that we can play better, but as I say, we have to be at our maximum to play against a top side like that. I thought that we were at our maximum against Germany for 70 minutes so that was good but I've got to say, that's probably the best performance against us for a long time from England."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Craig Gordon (what can Scotland learn from that performance)

"I think we can take from it that we can't expect to win games playing like that. We know what our limitations are. We know what makes us good and tonight was maybe still a little bit of a hangover from the Ireland game and we weren't quite as sharp as we would like to be. England came out the traps very well, put pressure on us all over and park and maybe we weren't quite ready for that."
