Roger Federer gave the Switzerland Davis Cup team a boost on Wednesday (19th November) ahead of their Davis Cup final against France.

The 17-time Grand Slam Champion hit alone with Michael Lammer in the 27,000 capacity stadium in Northern France.

The rest of the squad, including Stanislas Wawrinka, trained during the afternoon ahead of the final.

Federer had picked up the knock in his semi-final win over fellow-Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka, and the team will be desperate for Federer to be fit.

Federer has played a vital role in Switzerland's march to the final, he's won all five of his singles matches, his sole defeat came in the only double match he competed in.

The French can call upon the likes of Jo-Wilfred Tsonga, Richard Gasquet & Gael Monfils

While the French side has admirable depth, the Swiss rankings drop off significantly after their top two with Marco Chiudinelli world No 212 and Lammer ranked 508th.

Switzerland, who beat Italy 3-2 in the semi-finals, have never won the Davis Cup.

France, who lost the 2010 final to Serbia, are nine-time winners, their last title was in 2001.
