Roger Federer and his Swiss Davis Cup team-mate Stan Wawrinka played down rumours of a row between them at the ATP Tour Finals. French captain Arnaud Clement says he thinks the Swiss team will do all they can to get Federer fit for Friday's Davis Cup final.

"Like I said, there is no hard feelings whatsoever and we are having a good time here. We are friends, not enemies, but it was one of those moments, one of those heat of the moment situations, but I think you (the press) did a very nice job at making it very big, and I don't think from this point forward there is much to say about it any more."

"As Roger said, I think first thing we have no problem together - we spoke already about it straight after the match, not only about that, about many things, and we know how to deal whenever a small thing like that (happens)."

SOUNDBITE (French) Arnaud Clement, France captain: "We don't know much about Federer's physical condition, and our responsibility is to prepare as well as we can until the last day, until the last practice, and then we shall see who our opponents will be. Frankly, I think they will do everything they can to get Federer ready for Friday. We'll see."

"Well it's definitely not good enough (his back) to practise yet, so I wish progress would be faster, but we are trying hard, we are heading in that direction, I feel. It is definitely a little bit better than it was on Saturday night and Sunday, and also Monday, so baby steps I guess, and I am hopeful, I mean, I hope so."
