"Well, good evening. I'm sorry I'm here in a tracksuit and not in a match outfit. Unfortunately I'm not match fit to play the match tonight. Clearly I wished it wasn't so. You try all year to be ready for the ATP World Tour Finals, and I didn't want it to end this way. But I tried everything I could last night, also today."

The decision means Novak Djokovic takes home the season ending crown.

A disappointing end for both players and spectators.

"I'm sure that Roger would come out onto the court if he could play at the level he desired and I wish him a speedy recovery and hopefully he can play in the Davis Cup final - I know it's very important event for him."

It's Djokovic's third straight ATP World Tour Finals title.
