SOUNDBITE (English): Anil Kumble, Chairman of the ICC Awards Selection Panel (on receiving the People's Choice award on behalf of Indian bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar):

"I think that as a young cricketer, to receive an award in the first year or couple of years of your entry into international cricket, it's a great story and it certainly inspires a young player. And if you saw this list of all the People's Choices (award category) there are some out-and-out fast bowlers and for a swing bowler, a young Indian bowler (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) to get it, nobody thought that a young Indian fast bowler would be the People's Choice in international cricket."

SOUNDBITE (English): David Richardson, ICC Chief Executive:

"The best thing about this is that it will always encourage debate and argument as to whether the selectors have done a decent job or not. And Anil (Kumble), I think you guys have done a good job. Some of the names might be initially surprising but when you look at the stats behind what they have actually achieved over that performance period, it is quite staggering. I didn't realise that Ajanta Mendis (part of ICC ODI Team of the Year) had done nearly half as well as he has done. Stats sometimes lie, but in this case, more often than not, they will back up the selections made and those persons nominated on the short list."
