Cricket fan claims spectacular one handed catch

  • Intro:

A fan claimed a spectacular catch during a Georgie Pie Super Smash match in Hamilton, New Zealand on Sunday (9th November) and won $5,000 NZ dollars.

    Script:

With $5,000 NZ dollars at stake it's no wonder this cricket fan in New Zealand risked sliding down a grassy bank to catch a ball that had been hit for six.

Andrew McCulloch made the catch during a game between Otago and Wellington.

The bare-footed McCulloch claimed the catch, cashing in on a weekend Twenty-20 one-handed catch promotion to earn the $5,000 NZ dollars, before casually laying back down as though nothing had happend.

Otago batsman Michael Bracewell hit the shot, and in a strange coincidence Bracewell, who hit the six is the brother of McCulloch's girlfriend.
McCulloch didn't seem too sure when asked if he would spend the money on Christmas gifts:

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Andrew McCulloch

    Q: "How do you feel?"

"Oh, pretty stoked right now, yes."

Q: "I guess that's good coming up to Christmas. Everybody's getting better Christmas presents this year?"

    "Yes, apparently."

Q: "Well everyone knows you've won the money now. You dropped the jandals, you ran, what was going through your mind?"

    "Just.... just get there."
