"Yes it's a milestone. It's definitely one. It's also an awfully long walk when you think about it. I think if you ever worked it out, I think Barry Lane who was the last two achieve this feat, he told me that it is round the world and back to Singapore so it's an awfully long walk if you set out and it's been some journey and I really have enjoyed every minute of it. It's been super. To represent the European Tour for this length of time, for 27 years, and to play as many events as this it's a real honour to be associated with such a fantastic tour as this European Tour is."

"well I mean if you'd told me that at my first event in Switzerland (in 1987) I would have had to pinch myself to think that. It just happened that it was. I played the Dunhill Links Championship a month ago and someone said that was my 599th and I wasn't aware that this was going to be six hundred but someone was adding up somewhere along the line. But at the same time (it's) a great honour. And as you say, a fantastic honour to have it on a course that's designed by myself and also one of the final four series, one of the premier events on the European Tour."
