Federer sees off Nishikori

Wednesday, November 12 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Roger Federer closed in on a place in the semi-finals at the ATP World Tour Finals with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Japan's Kei Nishikori in London.

    Script:

It had been a good start to the ATP World Tour finals for Kei Nishikori, but that was until he bumped into Roger Federer.

The Swiss has a formidable indoor record and he was simply too good yet again as he made it 2 wins from 2 matches.

Nishikori was the only debutant to win his opening match, beating Andy Murray and he did start brightly.

But after failing to captialise on 2 break points, Federer's forehand began to do the damage, first set to him 6-3.

The second set wasn't much different. Federer's backhand also in devastating form.

And he served the set out 6-2, to put himself in a great position to qualify - something that might be confirmed tonight, after the match between Milos Raonic and Andy Murray.
