  • Intro:

Mi Hyang Lee of South Korea birdied the fifth hole of a three-way play-off on Sunday (9 November) to win the Mizuno Classic for her first LPGA title.

    Script:

The final round of the LPGA Mizuno Classic was played in wet conditions at the Kintetsu Kashikojima Country Club in Mie, Japan on Sunday.

World number two Stacy Lewis, winner in 2012, shot her best round of the week with a three-under 69.

Fifty-one-year-old Laura Davies of England, co-leader after the second round and bidding to become the oldest winner in LPGA history, could only shoot a one-under 71.

Davies ended tied for fourth at ten-under.

First round leader Morgan Pressel left it too late, but still finished impressively with a round of 67, which included birdies on the 16th and 17th holes.

South Korean Ilhee Lee fired a brilliant approach on the 16th to set up a birdie and move to twelve-under at that stage.

However, she lost that advantage at the next hole with a bogey and ended with 11-under after carding 70.

Local hope Kotono Kozuma had a great start with five birdies in the first seven holes, but two bogeys saw her card a round of 69.

She still needed to hole a nervy par putt on the 18th to get into a three-way play-off, which also included Mi Hyang Lee of South Korea.

The South Korean, stood toe-to-toe with her rivals in the first four play-off holes, with nothing separating the three.

Mi Hyang Lee then played the shot of the day - a brilliant approach which rolled through the green and stopped close to the hole.

A putt she knocked in for her first ever LPGA title
