    Script:

The third round of the WGC-HSBC Champions event in Shanghai, China, began on Saturday where Bubba Watson trod water by hanging on to third spot.

The American was two points off first place overnight and Watson stayed in the same position today after carding a 69.

The 36-year-old is joined at that mark by fellow Masters winner Martin Kaymer. The German shot a 66 to rise eight places in the standings.

Japan's Hiroshi Iwata also climbed the leaderboard, rising from third to second after a round of 68.

One shot ahead of the WGC debutant is Graeme McDowell. The Northern Irishman started off the day at Sheshan three shots clear of the field but could only manage a 71 for an 11-under total.

McDowell started solidly with pars at his opening three holes and he followed up a birdie at the fourth with another at the seventh before dropping a shot at the eighth.
