SOUNDBITE: (English) Graeme McDowell, five-under par:

"Yeah yeah, good day, good day, got off to a flyer, you know, I mean, seven-under par through 12 holes. A tricky day today, wind switched completely from practice, you know, a bit stronger, a bit colder, some of the holes are playing very long out there, a lot of four and five irons in your hand. But the big key today was hitting in the fairway and putting as well as I did. You know, these greens are perfect and I made some nice putts, so good start. I mean, scoring's not great out there and I'll take five-under despite letting a couple slip on the way in."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Graeme McDowell, five-under par:

"You'd take five-under most days, let's be honest, but yeah this is a tricky golf course, you know, some tough pins today, greens are very fast, you've got to stay on the right side of the flags, but like I say, big key, you must hit it on the fairway here. I drove the ball beautifully, you know, fairly long and fairly straight and set up some birdie opportunities and managed to make a few putts, so all-in-all very happy with that start. You know, a lot of work to do this weekend, world class field here and got to just keep chipping away."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Rickie Fowler, three-under par:

"I mean, if you play a good solid round of golf I think you can get to maybe seven or eight (under par) for a day, but to continue that on for three more days is going to be tough, so I think, you know, a little bit will depend on the weather. I know there's possible rain this weekend, we'll see how the course tends to play, but the rough's not going to change, that's going to be tough, so let's see if we can keep putting together solid rounds and get ourselves in contention for Sunday."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Martin Kaymer, three-under par:
"I think it's a very good score, especially the first nine that we played was difficult to play, it was a little windy, and we were one of the groups in the back of the field today, so the greens were - they were still good - but a little bit slower than they were on the first nine. So overall, you know, three-under par, I think...it's all about putting yourselves in positions, so after the first one I did well."
