Milos Raonic faced 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer in the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters on Friday knowing that he had to win to keep his chances of qualifying for the season finale in London alive.

The seventh seed had never beaten his Swiss opponent in six previous meetings.

And the big-serving Canadian held his own as the first set entered a tiebreak with Raonic looking in good touch at the net.

The Canadian then served this ace down to take the tiebreak.

Federer had his chances in the second as the set continued on serve. Raonic mae his move, yet Federer found the line as he moved to break point.

Yet Raonic would quash that with an ace & then find a break point of his own. The Canadian with this slap of a passing shot to take the break at 6-5.

Raonic had two for it as he served at 40-15. Taking his first victory over Federer & remaining in the hunt for the season finale in London.

Tomas Berdych faced Kevin Anderson in the second quarter final of the day.

Berdych, knowing a win here would guarantee him a spot in the London Finals, yet he struggled with consistency and lost the opener.

He then took the second 6-4 and found the break at 4-4 in the decider.

Anderson then went wide giving Berdych yet another victory over the South African, going 12-0 against Anderson.

The win for the Czech means only two places remain in the Race to the London Finals.
