The 37 year-old striker, who scored 228 goals in 550 appearances over a 16-year period for Real Madrid, retired from professional football in April after spending two years at Qatari side Al-Sadd, but has decided to extend his career in North America.
Raul also spent two years in the German Bundesliga with Schalke 04.
Internationally, Raul earned 102 caps for his country, scoring 44 times.
It is understood that Raul is set to take on the role of technical adviser to the youth academy at New York Cosmos, which he will oversee on a full-time basis upon his final retirement.
