The LPGA Tour moved to Taiwan on Thursday for the Taiwan Championship at Miramar Golf & Country Club.

Shot of the day went to South Korea's So-yeon Ryu, who holed out for an eagle with the iron shot at 11 to take the lead.

But Ryu ended the day two shots back after a double bogey on 18 that gave her a 66.

Michelle Wie opened with a 68 on Thursday and is four back of the lead.

Stacy Lewis, who lost her spot as world number one this week, shot a 67 that included setting up birdie on 16.

Local favourite and former LPGA Taiwan champion Yani Tseng opened with a 69.

But Taiwanese amateur Ssu-chia Cheng upstaged her compatriot with a 66 that left her two shots back of the leaders.

But in a share of the lead at eight under after the first round are China's Feng Shanshan, who set up a final birdie on eighteen with a chip, and new world number one In-bee Park, who celebrated her status with an opening 64 to join Feng at the top heading into round two in Taipei.
